Job Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of critical database platforms, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL;
• Design scalable database architectures and schemas, and contribute to the technical implementation of data warehouse solutions, including structures, ETL/ELT processes, partitioning, and indexing;
• Analyze, tune, and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance;
• Design, implement, and regularly test High Availability (HA), replication/synchronization (master-slave), backup, and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions;
• Ensure service continuity, manage database-related incidents, and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA);
• Implement database security, access control, and auditing processes;
• Establish database monitoring and proactively track performance, availability, and overall database health;
• Automate routine database administration tasks through scripting;
• Ensure controlled deployment and management of database changes across test, pre-production, and production environments;
• Provide database support for new projects and participate in load and stress testing;
• Implement data masking, anonymization, and access restrictions to protect sensitive and patient data;
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBA team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another relevant field;
• At least 3 years of professional experience in database administration, including at least 1 year working in high-load, business-critical 24/7 production environments;
• Strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL 14+: configuration and performance tuning, VACUUM/AUTOVACUUM, WAL management, streaming replication, connection pooling (PgBouncer), partitioning, indexing strategies, and query optimization using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE;
• Practical experience in Oracle Database administration, including tablespace and resource management, RMAN, Data Guard, performance analysis using AWR/ASH, and PL/SQL;
• Server-level administration experience with Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), including Bash scripting, cron/systemd, and troubleshooting of disk/IO, memory, and network resources;
• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery processes, including PITR, pg_basebackup/pg_dump, and RMAN; experience in planning and executing recovery tests and practical application of RPO/RTO concepts;
• Hands-on experience with HA/DR solutions, including master-slave replication, failover scenarios, and Patroni, repmgr, or equivalent technologies;
• Experience with database monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus/Grafana, pgwatch, or equivalent solutions;
• Knowledge of database security practices, including role and access management (RBAC), auditing, encryption, and sensitive data masking;
• Experience with data migration, ETL/ELT processes, and controlled change management across different environments;
• Advanced SQL skills and experience writing automation scripts in Python or an equivalent programming language;
• Fluency in Azerbaijani; sufficient English proficiency to read and understand technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle OCP or professional PostgreSQL certification;
• Experience participating in the technical implementation of Data Warehouse (DWH) projects, including dimensional modeling and ETL orchestration;
• Experience supporting reporting and BI platforms such as Apache Superset and Power BI from the database side;
• Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to personal data protection.
